Everybody knows the Festival of Saint John for the “martelinhos”, the “alho porro”, the “manjericos” (dwarf bush basil) with their quatrains and, of course, the sardines, but there is another tradition that was almost forgotten for many years: the Bolo de São João (Saint John’s Cake).
