Inicialmente, os velhotes faziam-se pela altura da Festa da Nossa Senhora dos Aflitos, em Valadares. Hoje, encontramo-los todo o ano em várias padarias e pastelarias do concelho de Vila Nova de Gaia.

Initially, the “velhotes” (the old men) were made around the time of the Festival of Our Lady of the Afflicted, in Valadares. Today, we can find them all year round, in several bakeries and pastry shops of the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia.
